Horror audiences.

An 'audience' is defined to be a group of individuals that digest text. In the world of media, these audiences are split into certain groups based on profession so forms of media can be directed accurately.

Group A:
This group contains people who are well paid professionals such as;
- Lawyers
- Doctors
- Scientists

Group B:
These are people who are fairly well paid professionals, often in middle management employment. These are people such as;
- Teachers

Group C1:
These are people who are in 'white collar' professions or in junior management. Examples include;
- Bank clerks
- Nurses

Group C2:
These are people with 'blue collar' professions. Examples include;
- Electricians
- Plumbers
- Carpenters

Group D:
This group contains people who take part in manual labour. Examples include;
- Drivers

Group E:
This group involves limited people. Examples include;
- Students
- Pensioners
- Unemployed people

Below I have written about certain films and their target audiences.

In the film 'Unfriended', the plot is focused around a group teenagers utilising technology in their social groups. Therefore, this horror film's target audience would be mainly Group E. This is due to the fact of Group E consisting of students and teenagers. This is to then make the film personal to the audience as the situation becomes more of a reality to them as they generally spend a lot of time on technological devices, intriguing them into the film further.

The film 'Annabelle' has a plot where a middle class family is haunted by a demon doll that destroys the family life. For this reason, the target audience for this film would be Group C2 or Group D where middle class families come under. This would make the film far more realistic for the adults watching the film as they would think of the situation occurring to them.
