Titles font analysis on The Conjuring.
The creative director for the opening titles of this horror film was Aaron Becker. The Conjuring's opening titles include James Wan, the director, the writers, different families and various other titles.
These titles are presented to us in an almost modern manner, with an old and tattered background. This is a use of juxtaposition, as the modern and old are total opposites. This is done deliberately to focus the audience's attention onto the possibility of something modern happening in an old setting.

Furthermore, the titles' font uses sans-serif as opposed to serif. This is because they tend to be better for titles as they are more legible or clearer to read from further away. This works very well in this specific title scenario.
Above is a section of the opening title sequence that clearly recognises and presents the film's genre as a horror. This is done as easily as the stereotypical haunted house is overshadowing the small titles purposely to show the film as a horror. The stereotype of the haunted house automatically allow the audience to associate it with the horror genre within the opening scenes.
The Conjuring was released with an age rating of 15. In my own, personal opinion, i believe that the target age group for it is from any age above 15. This is because paranormal horrors like this can interest a wide range of ages.
