Preliminary task.

Preliminary Task.

For our preliminary task we will be using continuity editing. This is a style of video and film editing. It is done to make process of editing smoother.

The requirements for our preliminary task are;

- A character that is walking into a room.
- The character walking across the room, sitting down opposite to the second character.
- The characters will exchange in some dialog.

During the filming we should show;

- A shot reverse shot.
- Match on action.
- 180-degree rule.

Shot reverse shot.

This type of shot tends to be used when two characters are exchanging dialogue, it switches from one character to the other and then back again etc while they are talking to each other. The camera always will be pointing at the character who is speaking.

Match on action,

This type of shot is when there is a cut in a scene whilst the character is participating in the same movement. Although, it still should smoothly flow.

180 degree rule.

This type of shot is where the person in charge of the camera can not move the camera any more than 180 degrees around the characters. This is so the audience are not distorted and the characters can not look as so they have changed position from the audience's perspective.
